If you've had braces before, you know how fun it is to get new wires. I am mixed with both excitement and dread every time I go in for a wire change. The excitement comes because it marks progress - and I get to change the colours on the bands (yep, I'm rockin 'em like a teenager people - deal with it!). The dread comes because I won't be able to eat solid food for several days.
I've become a smoothie goddess since getting braces. We invested in a Vitamix, which was a ridiculous amount of money for a blender. But at the same time, it's been completely worth it because you can put just about anything in there and it'll liquefy it. I haven't tried pennies, but I'd bet money that it would liquefy copper! I never thought I'd put the ingredients below together and them drink it...and actually like it - but I do. Lucky for me the thing came with a book of recipes or I'd be stealing ideas from Tropical Smoothie (which are equally delicious).
So the Vitamix of course got me thinking about what a funny name it has...which reminded me of something I saw a long time ago on the I Love Lucy show. I was not a big fan of that show; I couldn't explain why when I was a kid, but in retrospect it was that Lucy was just so freakin' STOOPID I couldn't stand it. But this episode stood out because it was one of the few that made me laugh (this is the other one). Yes, you guessed it, it's Vitameatavegamin. And to answer your impending question, yes, I have put a grilled steak in the Vitamix and eaten it (well, drank it). It was awesome - but getting over the texture was a bit rough. :)
Here's one to try:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup green grapes
- 1/2 medium banana
- 1/2 cup pineapple
- 2 cups raw spinach (washed, duh)
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- Directions: liquefy and drink.
